This month’s book was Give The Dark My Love by Beth Revis.
I absolutely loved it, you’re hooked right at the start. It deals with a plague, and necromancy, it’s GREAT.
We had the chance to skype Beth to have answers to our questions.
Like Amy, Beth likes to write different genre, and Give The Dark My Love was her first published fantasy one.
Did she know before writing it that it would be a duology?
Beth considered leaving the book like it was, and stopping it there. Full on bad Nedra and that’s it, the end.
But while writing the book, she got ideas for a new mystery involving Greg, and a new character we don’t know yet.
Beth actually rewrote the whole of book 2 so she could include more of the world, and not just Lunar Island. I don’t know about you but I’m very excited about this.
Her influences for this series came from a few things: - Three Dark Crowns
  • Six of Crows
  • Full Metal Alchemy
  • The Hamilton’s soundtrack (which is to thanks for the political aspect of the book)
  • She also did historical research on the bubonic plague
With this book, she enjoyed going into the darkest parts, taking emotions and making them the worst they can get.
I am SO excited about book 2!
